MEQUON, Wis. – Mary Johnson (Jr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) picked up her second win of the week for the Lakeland University women's tennis team in a 6-1 loss at Concordia University Wisconsin Saturday morning in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference dual.

Johnson was ahead of Concordia's Abby Schwartz by a 4-3 score in their Number 4 singles match when Schwartz retired. Johnson won her second singles match in four matches and recorded the lone victory for the Muskies (0-4 overall, 0-3 NACC) in their dual with the Falcons (3-2 overall, 3-1 NACC).

Lakeland again fielded four competitors for the dual, giving CUW default wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles and at No. 3 doubles. The shorthanded Muskies were competitive in most of their matches against a team annually one of the best in the NACC.

Emily Pautz (Sr.-Howards Grove, Wis.) nearly took the first set of her No. 3 singles match, but Concordia's Payton Steward went on to a 7-5, 6-2 victory. Johnson and Pautz also competed at No. 2 doubles, falling to Schwartz and Steward 6-2.

Olivia Heling (Jr.-West Bend, Wis.) was defeated by Peyton Morgan at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-3. Alexis Labonte (Fr.-Portage, Ind.) competed at No. 2 singles and fell to Morgan Chyla 6-0, 6-2.

The Muskies are on the road again for their next match when they face Wisconsin Lutheran College Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Hart Park in Wauwatosa.
