Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Muskies dropped by Green Knights on the road in De Pere

DE PERE, Wis. – St. Norbert College made the most of its best opportunities, scoring on nearly all of its shots on goal as the Lakeland University men's soccer team was defeated 5-0 Wednesday night at SNC's Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights cashed in on five of their six shots on goal in the match to remain among the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference leaders at 8-2 in league play (10-6 overall). Lakeland fell to 5-9-2 overall and 2-7-2 with one conference match remaining Saturday at home against Concordia University Wisconsin.

The Muskies are still in the chase for a spot in the eight-team NACC Tournament, though they will need a win in their conference finale and likely some help. Lakeland is one point behind current eighth-place Wisconsin Lutheran College and is tied with Marian University for ninth with eight points, but the Sabres own any tiebreaker over the Muskies on the basis of winning the teams' regular season matchup.

Lakeland played from behind for the final 76-plus minutes, after St. Norbert scored the game's opening goal with Kevin Ramirez tallying his fourth of the year at 13:16 of the match. The Green Knights added a second goal from Hayden Dunn in the 30th minute, and then added one more from reserve Ben Swicionis with 1:49 left in the first half to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.

St. Norbert then added two more goals just over three minutes part in the latter stages of the second half. Joe Lewcock scored in the 73rd minute to make it 4-0, and Brock Stephens added a goal just 3:11 later in the 76th minute to close the scoring.

The Muskies had opportunities in the match, including just over a minute in when Brahm Dell Adema (Sr.-Plano, Texas) and Jordan Davis-Troller (Sr.-Cottage Grove, Wis.) just missed connecting on a pass in front of the goal. Porter Gigstead (So.-Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) also had a pair of shots, including a contested blast from nearly point-blank range that SNC keeper Adan Martinez-Ponce deflected away with a dive.

Davis-Troller also had a bending free kick from 25 yards out knocked away with a dive by Martinez-Ponce in the second half. Austin Eigenberger-Vahsholtz (So.-Grafton, Wis.) and Roman Riggs (Fr.-North Liberty, Iowa) also both added two shot attempts each in the game.

Matt English (Sr.-Cheyenne, Wyo.) and Conley Sundblad (Fr.-North Liberty, Iowa) combined to play in goal, with Sundblad coming on in the 36th minute and making one save.

St. Norbert posted a 13-8 advantage in shots in the game, though Lakeland finished with a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
