Series history: 8th meeting, Illinois Tech leads 5-2
The history between Lakeland and Illinois Institute of Technology in men's soccer is a brief one, with most of it coming  since IIT joined the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference in 2018. The Scarlet Hawks won last year's meeting 6-0 at home in Chicago, pulling away with four goals in the second half including three in the final 12 minutes. The Muskies won the last time the teams played at Taylor Field, though, routing Tech 5-0 just over two years ago on Oct. 7, 2023 as five different players scored goals. The teams have split their last four meetings. The first meeting between the schools came in both teams' 2005 season opener, when IIT pulled out a 2-1 win here at Lakeland.

Lakeland last time out: Lost at Aurora 7-0 Saturday
The Muskies had a tough day on the road against one of the NACC's top teams, falling to the Spartans. Aurora scored its first goal in the 28th minute and would tally three in the first half and four more in the second half. Andrew Davison made 12 saves for Lakeland, which was outshot 31-2, with Porter Gigstead and Dominic Myers registering the team's two shot attempts, including Myers with a bending shot that just missed getting the Muskies on the board in the 70th minute. Lakeland dropped to 1-3-2 in the NACC and was shutout in consecutive games for the first time this season. Despite their recent dry spell, the Muskies already have 14 different players with at least one point this season, two more than all of last year.

Illinois Tech last time out: Tied Marian 1-1 Saturday
The Scarlet Hawks played to a tie on their Senior Day on Saturday against the Sabres. Cal Graham scored in the 26th minute with an assist from Adam Lazarowicz to put IIT ahead, but Marian came back to tie in the 57th minute. Illinois Tech held an 18-13 lead in shot attempts, though the teams tied 5-5 in shots on goal. Colin Thomas made four saves for Illinois Tech, which is 2-1-2 in its last five matches after also defeating Benedictine 4-3 last week and coming close in a 2-1 loss to Edgewood on Sept. 27.
