FOND DU LAC, Wis. –
Olivia Heling (
Sr.-West Bend, Wis,) won twice and the Lakeland University women's tennis team earned three more victories on the season in losing a dual to Marian University Wednesday.
Heling won her second straight singles match and also was part of a doubles win for the Muskies, who were competitive in almost every match but dropped to 0-5 overall and in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. Marian improved to 2-8 overall and in 2-5 NACC duals.
The Muskies won three matches in total, including two singles matches and one at doubles. Marian took the one doubles point in the dual scoring for winning two of the three doubles matches.
Heling and
Mary Johnson (
Sr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) earned Lakeland's first win of the match, defeating Marian's Hazel Duchemin and Jillian Traver 6-0 at No. 1 doubles.
Heling also added a 6-1, 6-1 win over Jillian Traver at No. 1 singles.
Yuu Narita (
Sr.-Tokyo, Japan) also won her match at No. 6 singles defeating Madeline DeVries 6-1, 6-3, for her second straight singles victory.
The Muskies' closest results in defeat included at No. 4 singles, where
Madeline Diedrich (
Fr.-La Porte, Ind.) won five games in the first set before falling 7-5, 6-2 to Josephine Bruch.
Reina Imabuchi made her season debut winning four games at No. 5 singles before falling 6-4, 6-2 to Morgan Hietpas. Imabuchi and Narita also won four games in their first doubles pairing at No. 3 before falling 6-4 to Jennifer Pierga and Savannah Clark.
