Series history:Â 50th meeting, Edgewood leads 29-11-9
Lakeland and Edgewood are longtime rivals, going back to their days together first in the Lake Michigan Conference and more recently in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. The Eagles have had the upper hand in the series more often than not and stopped a recent Muskies winning streak with a 3-0 victory on Oct. 19, 2024 at Taylor Field. Before that game, Lakeland had been on a recent run owning Edgewood, winning the previous four meetings. The Muskies last topped the Eagles 1-0 on the road at Edgewood in 2023 as Rafael Romero scored the lone goal with 52 seconds left in the match.
Lakeland last time out: Defeated Lawrence 4-1 last Wednesday
The Muskies have been idle for the last week since an exciting comeback win against the Vikings at home. A scoreless game at halftime broke open in the second half, first with Lawrence scoring the match's opening goal but then with Lakeland scoring four times, including three goals in a stretch of less than 12 minutes.
Jordan Davis-Troller scored two goals and added an assist, extending his streak of matches scoring a goal to four straight, most by a Muskie since 2008.
Chris Ledesma and
Dunia Wangu both added their first goals of the season and
Andrew Davison earned his second win in goal as Lakeland improved to 3-2 through five games for the first time since 2018.
Edgewood last time out: Won at Wisconsin-Platteville 1-0 Saturday
The Eagles scored on a penalty kick in the 65th minute for the match's lone goal to defeat the Pioneers on the road. Connor Gage converted the penalty kick and Edgewood dealt Platteville its first loss of the season. Maverick Van Laanen made two saves for his second shutout. The Eagles are the defending Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference regular season champions, finishing 17-2-2 overall last year and 10-0-1 in conference before falling to Aurora in the NACC tourney semifinals.
