Edgewood handles Lakeland men’s soccer in NACC opener

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The Lakeland University men's soccer team struggled in its Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opener, falling to Edgewood University 7-0 Wednesday night at John Taylor Memorial Field.

The Eagles scored less than two minutes into the match, scored twice late in the first half and were in control the whole way in opening defense of their NACC regular season crown last year. Lakeland dropped to 3-3 overall on the season while Edgewood improved to 3-1-2.

Brandon Kaup scored two goals for the Eagles and Riley Kann added a goal and two assists. Kaup scored both of his goals in the final 15 minutes of the first half, when the visitors started to stretch out the lead after holding a 1-0 advantage after 30 minutes.

Six different players scored goals for Edgewood, which led 3-0 at halftime, added a fourth goal just after halftime and continued to pull away. The Eagles outshot the Muskies 20-1.

Jordan Davis-Troller (Sr.-Cottage Grove, Wis.) posted the lone shot attempt for Lakeland. Andrew Davison (Jr.-Elburn, Ill.) made six saves in goal for the Muskies.

Lakeland is back in action Saturday when it travels to face Benedictine University for a 5 p.m. kickoff in Lisle, Ill.
