Concordia Chicago handles Lakeland women’s soccer

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Concordia University Chicago scored three times in the first half and added two goals late in defeating the Lakeland University women's soccer team 5-0 Saturday afternoon at John Taylor Memorial Field.

Five different players scored for the Cougars, who scored twice late in the first half and again twice late in the game. Lakeland dropped to 0-7-1 overall and is 0-4 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

Grace Chavez scored the match's opening goal in the 21st minute for Concordia (2-8-1 overall, 2-2 NACC). Morgan Burnap added a goal in the 38th minute and Luciana Moran Cruz added a third goal with just over two minutes left in the first half.

The Muskies held the Cougars down in the second half until the 76th minute, when Stacey Maskery scored. Lucie Carter added a final goal with just over six minutes left in the game.

Addi Reimer (Fr.-Plymouth, Wis.) made 11 saves in goal for Lakeland. The Muskies finished without a shot on goal, with Mikayla Belasco (Jr.-Muskegon, Mich.), Ines Rodriguez (Jr.-Newark, Calif.), Ingrid Steinbock (So.-Sheboygan, Wis.) and Alyssa Voigt (So.-New Holstein, Wis.) posting the team's lone shot attempts with one shot each.

Lakeland is home again Saturday when it faces Wisconsin Lutheran College at 7 p.m. at Taylor Field.
