Series history: Lakeland and Concordia are long-time rivals in many sports, and volleyball is no exception. The two teams have been meeting regularly since the 1970s. The Falcons won the most recent meeting, dominating in a 25-14, 25-11, 29-27 victory in the NACC Tournament quarterfinals last year at Lakeland. Concordia was dominant in the series from 2014-23, winning 12 straight, but the Muskies gained a foothold of late with five-set wins each of the last two regular seasons, including a 25-23, 28-26, 22-25, 20-25, 15-3 victory on the road in Mequon Oct. 25 as Samya Hughes set a school single-match record with 27 kills.

Lakeland last time out: Won at Illinois Tech 3-2 Thursday
The Muskies came back in dramatic fashion on the road, winning the final three sets for a 22-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-18, 17-15 victory in Chicago. Lakeland trailed 22-18 in the third set, three points from being swept before scoring the final seven points of the set, including a pair of service aces from Katie Westerholm and four kills from Maleigha Kovalaske. The Muskies also weathered a match point in the final set before scoring the match's final three points. Kovalaske led a number of career highs in the match, finishing with 22 kills. Ryan Figi also racked up 34 digs and Rylee Esquibel added 23 digs, also both career highs.

With the victory Lakeland won its fifth straight match and moved into sole possession of third place in the NACC, and now has the head-to-head tiebreaker over both Illinois Tech and MSOE, the two nearest teams to the Muskies in the standings. Lakeland also continued its excellence in the month of October under coach Ryan Schopf, and is now 33-12 in October since 2022.

Concordia last time out: Defeated Concordia Chicago 3-0 Thursday
The Falcons drew three of a kind at home against the Cougars, winning each set by the same score in a 25-17, 25-17, 25-17 victory. The Concordia from Wisconsin hit .314 as a team with 39 kills and just 12 errors in a clean win and also added nine service aces. Bailey Bonde finished with 10 kills and Kirsten Krause and Natalie Nickolai added eight kills each.

The Falcons continued what has been an up and down season, as evidenced in the team's 11-10 overall record and 4-4 mark in the NACC. CUW comes in having won three straight, with the recent winning streak following up six straight losses including conference losses to MSOE and Illinois Tech where Concordia won just one set over the two matches. CUW finished 10-3 in the conference last year, though, and is in its final year in the NACC before departing for the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin next year.
