Mrotek receives first NACC Player of the Week honor after career high performance

Peyton Mrotek (Sr.-Luxemburg, Wis.) was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference men's basketball player of the week when the conference released its weekly honors Wednesday morning.

Mrotek received the honor for the first time after a career game against Dominican University on Saturday and two strong games last week. He is the first Lakeland men's basketball player to receive the award this season, and the first since Cliff McCray received the honor Jan. 19, 2025.

Mrotek averaged 29.0 points and 10.5 rebounds as the Muskies split two games last week. He shot 60.0% (18 of 30) from the field and 85.0% (17 of 20) from the free throw line and averaged 2.5 three-pointers per game.

The 6-foot-3 guard's week including scoring a career-high 37 points and adding 11 rebounds as Lakeland edged Dominican University 86-83 on Saturday. Mrotek made 11 of 16 shots from the field, including four three-pointers, and also went 11-for-12 from the free throw line. He also added 21 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to Milwaukee School of Engineering last week Wednesday, making 7 of 14 shots from the field and 6 of 8 foul shots.

Mrotek is averaging 15.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game this season and is shooting 45.0% from the field and 81.7% from the foul line. He ranks seventh in the NACC in free throw percentage and is eighth in three-point field goals per game (2.0).

Lakeland (8-14 overall, 6-9 NACC) is home again tonight when it faces St. Norbert College at 7 p.m. at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
