Asanjai Hunter (
Racine, Wis.) and
Peyton Mrotek (
Luxemburg, Wis.) both were recognized when the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference released its men's basketball postseason awards for the 2025-26 season Thursday.
Hunter and Mrotek both were second team all-NACC selections, with both capping their careers with conference postseason honors for the first time. The two were honored after a season in which the Muskies finished 9-17 overall and 7-11 to tie for eighth in the NACC standings.
Hunter and Mrotek both finished in the top five in the NACC in scoring, with Hunter in fourth and Mrotek in fifth. Hunter finished averaging 19.6 points per game, as well as 4.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 47.3% from the field and 82.6% from the free throw line.
Hunter paced the Muskies in scoring, assists, steals, free throws made and free throws attempted and finished second on the team in minutes per game (33.3) and third in rebounding. The 5-foot-11 guard also is tied for the NACC lead in steals per game and ranks second in the conference in total steals (48), third in free throws made (138) and fourth in assists.
Hunter became a member of Lakeland's 1,000-point club this year and finished his career with 1,262 points, a total ranking 21st in program history. Hunter's 134 career steals also ranks eighth all-time for the Lakeland men's basketball program.
Mrotek came on in his senior year to give the Muskies another explosive scorer and finished the season fifth in the NACC averaging 16.8 points per game. The 6-foot-3 senior also averaged 5.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 48.4% from the field, 38.6% on three-point tries and 81.7% from the free throw line.
Mrotek led Lakeland in field goal percentage, three-point field goals (59) and three-point percentage and ranked second in scoring, rebounding, free throw percentage, free throws made (85) and attempted (104). He also third in the conference in three-point field goals made and threes made per game (2.3).
Mrotek scored in double figures in 21 of 26 games this season, and ramped up his play over the final 14 games, averaging 22.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game and shooting 54.7% from the field and 44.8% from long distance.
Mason Dopirak of Milwaukee School of Engineering was named the NACC Player of the Year, Devon Richardson of Aurora University was tabbed Defensive Player of the Year and Marvin Haslett of Marian University was named the conference's Freshman of the Year.
