The Lakeland University men's wrestling team received the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Team Scholar All-America Award and also had four wrestlers receive individual honors for the 2025-26 season and school year.
The Muskies made it into the NWCA D3 Men's Scholar Team Top 30 list, coming in 20th with a team grade point average of 3.62122. The average is measured by the GPA of the ten entries for each team into the NCAA regionals along with 1-2 alternates.
Lakeland also had four individuals receive the NWCA Scholar All-American Award. Receiving the honor were
Jesse Burg (
Jr.-Cedar Grove, Wis.),
Jacob Hillshafer (
Fr.-West Bend, Wis.),
Diego Morales (
Jr.-Cedar Grove, Wis.) and
Will Ohman (
So.-Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.).
Burg was named a Scholar All-American for the second straight year, while Hillshafer, Morales and Ohman all received the honor for the first time. Burg is an accounting major at Lakeland, Hillshafer is majoring in sport management & leadership, Morales is majoring in education and Ohman is a criminal justice major.
Lakeland finished its most successful season in more than a decade, placing ninth of 16 teams at the NCAA Division III Region 7 Regional. Head Coach
Mike DeRoehn was named the NWCA Region 7 Coach of the Year, and the Muskies finished 9-4 in duals, their best winning percentage in duals in a season since 2013-14 and their most dual wins in a season since 2007-08. Lakeland also placed five wrestlers in the top eight at regionals to receive all-region honors, also its most all-region honorees since 2013-14.
