Series history: 16th meeting, Benedictine leads 11-4
The series between the Muskies and Eagles has been a tale of two winning streaks, as Lakeland won the first four meetings prior to Benedictine claiming the last eleven. The teams are meeting at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium for the second straight year, after the Eagles won last year's meeting 22-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-21. Lakeland's last win over Benedictine was a four-set victory on April 2, 2016, that completed a sweep of the Eagles that season. The teams first met over 10 years ago, when the Muskies scored a 3-0 win on the road in Lisle, Ill., on Feb. 14, 2015.

Lakeland last time out: Lost at Concordia Chicago 3-2 March 20
The Muskies have been idle since last Friday, when they twice came back from a set down to tie the match but ultimately fell to the Cougars in five sets in River Forest, Ill. Concordia pulled out the 25-18, 23-25, 25-13, 20-25, 15-9 win. Lakeland controlled the fourth set to push the match to a deciding fifth set, but CUC never trailed in the fifth set and gradually pulled away to send the Muskies to their fourth straight loss, all coming in close fashion in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play. Colin Putchinski finished with 13 kills, Jordan Davis-Troller and Sage Xiong both netted 12 kills each, Chase Anderson finished with 42 assists and Luke Schultz added a team-high 18 digs.

Benedictine last time out: Defeated #11 UC Santa Cruz 3-1 Thursday
The Eagles earned their second win over a nationally ranked team this season, dropping the first set before coming back to defeat the Banana Slugs 25-27, 25-21, 26-24, 25-21. Benedictine came back from deficits late in both the second and third sets, including fighting off three set points and scoring the final five points to win the third set. Tucker Lambert totaled 17 kills plus 13 digs, Chris Radomski added 13 kills and Jordan Cardenas posted a school single-match record with 24 digs. The Eagles improved to 2-8 this season against teams ranked in the AVCA/NCAA Division III Top 20 Coaches Poll, having also defeated then-No. 20 North Central (Ill.) in January, and eight of their nine losses have come against ranked teams.

Senior Day: Saturday marks the final home match for six Muskies seniors. Chase Anderson, Jordan Davis-Troller, Jakob Donohue, Roger Sauvage, Drake Schleihs and Eli Weinrich form a diverse group including four-year members of the team, transfers, and even several two-sport athletes. Anderson, Davis-Troller, Donohue and Weinrich all have spent four years in the program, with Anderson the program's all-time leader in assists, Davis-Troller and Donohue among the Muskies' career leaders in blocks and Weinrich among the top in digs. Sauvage and Schleihs are both transfers to Lakeland from four-year institutions, and Sauvage (men's golf) joins Davis-Troller (men's soccer) as standouts in another sport as well as competing on the men's volleyball team.
