Wangu tapped for NACC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors

An explosive start to the season for Lakeland University junior forward Dunia Wangu (Milwaukee, Wis.) has paid off in the form of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors, as announced by the conference Tuesday.

Wangu received the NACC's weekly top offensive player award for the first time in his career after another big week.  He scored five goals and added two assists as the Muskies extended their winning streak to six games with four wins.

Wangu scored twice in Lakeland's 4-1 win at Martin Luther (Minn.) College this past Wednesday, and then two days later scored three goals and added an assist, involved in all four goals in the Muskies' 4-0 shutout of Grace Christian (Mich.). The junior native of Tanzania also added an assist in 39 minutes of play on Labor Day in Lakeland's 7-0 win over Maranatha Baptist.

Wangu has been on a scoring spree through the Muskies' first seven matches this season, with nine goals and two assists for 20 points to date. He has scored at least one goal in five matches, at least two goals in three matches, and his nine goals are tied for the lead in NCAA Division III.

Wangu is the first Muskie to receive NACC weekly honors since Jordan Davis-Troller (Sr.-Cottage Grove, Wis.) was named offensive player of the week almost exactly one year ago on Sept. 16, 2025.

Lakeland is 6-1 overall, and its six-game winning streak is tied for the longest in program history and is the longest streak for the Muskies. Lakeland attempts to stretch the streak to seven on Wednesday when it faces two-time defending NACC champion Edgewood University at 7 p.m. in Verona, Wis.
