The Lakeland University women's soccer team plays its fifth straight match at home and also will recognize alumni from the program's history when it hosts Marian University Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at 4:30 p.m. at Taylor Field.

Series history:Â 41st meeting, Marian leads 28-12
The Sabres are the most-played opponent in Lakeland women's soccer history. Marian has dominated the series of late, winning the last 17 matchups, including a 6-0 win in Fond du Lac last year as Emily Gordillo and Caitlin Traver scored two goals each. Lakeland last defeated Marian in the final game of the 2008 season, scoring a 2-1 win as Amy Christenson scored the winning goal in the 72nd minute. The Sabres won the first 10 meetings in the series, which began in 1993, before the Muskies earned their first win in 1999 and proceeded to win 11 straight.
Lakeland last time out: Lost to Benedictine 3-0 Saturday
The Muskies surrendered three goals in the first half in dropping their second straight match in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play. The Eagles scored just over 8 1/2 minutes into the match, then scored a second goal on an own goal by Lakeland in the 32nd minute before adding a third goal just before halftime. The Muskies had several good opportunities, including a shot off the crossbar by
Ines Rodriguez in the first half and a shot by
Taytum Theobald just off goal in the second.
Ingrid Steinbock made seven saves in goal for Lakeland, which was outshot 16-5.
Marian last time out: Lost to Dominican 3-0 Saturday
The Sabres hung with the Stars for a half but Dominican scored three times in the final 45 minutes to take the NACC match. The Stars took the lead 2:39 into the second half with a goal and then added two more goals in the final nine minutes. Marian was outshot 12-5 and Cristal Muniz made seven saves in goal for the Sabres, who also lost to St. Norbert 1-0 in their opening conference match last Wednesday. Marian's overall record includes a tie against Lawrence, and its lone win is over Whittier (Calif.) over Labor Day weekend in California. The Sabres, like Lakeland, have a first-year coach, with Kinsey (Bob) Gomez taking over this summer after she spent the past three years at Marian as an assistant coach.
Alumni Night: Lakeland will welcome back members of past Muskies women's soccer teams Wednesday night. Alumni in attendance will be recognized at halftime, and alumni from the program going back to 2008 are expected to be on hand for the event.
