Series history: Lakeland and Maranatha Baptist continue their long-running series in men's soccer that dates all the way back to Oct. 1, 1979, a 5-1 Maranatha win. Series records are incomplete, but in meetings documented in Lakeland records the Muskies hold a 28-11 lead over the Sabercats (formerly known for many years as the Crusaders). The teams have met the last four years, including a 1-0 Muskies win last year at Maranatha as Dunia Wangu scored the lone goal of the match. Lakeland also won the last meeting at Taylor Field, a 3-0 victory Oct. 15, 2024. MBU's last win over the Muskies came in 2019, a 2-0 win at home in Watertown.

Lakeland last time out: Defeated Cornell (Iowa) 3-0 Saturday
The Muskies won their second straight match, controlling play in a win over the Rams at home Saturday. Dunia Wangu scored a pair of goals and Jordan Davis-Troller added his first goal of the season off a corner kick by Andrew DeJaynes. Isai Gil also added an assist on one of Wangu's goals and Lakeland outshot Cornell 13-2 for the match. Wangu's two goals gave him four goals in the Muskies' first three matches, while Gil and Davis-Troller both have a goal and two assists each early in the season.

Maranatha Baptist last time out: Tied Martin Luther (Minn.) 1-1 Saturday
The Sabercats were so close to a win in their season opener, but Martin Luther scored the tying goal with nine seconds left in the match to salvage the tie. Will Alsup scored the goal for Maranatha in the 18th minute, and the Sabercats held the lead for almost the entirety of the last 72 minutes. Goalkeeper Titan McPhillips made eight saves for Maranatha while Robbie Dodd led the Sabercats with five shot attempts. The Sabercats opened their campaign after finishing 8-6-3 overall last year, advancing to the NCCAA Midwest Region Championship before a 1-0 loss to Grace Christian (Mich.).
