MILWAUKEE –
Zachary Kline (
So.-Luxemburg, Wis.) scored the lone goal of the day as the Lakeland College men's and women's soccer teams both fell to Milwaukee School of Engineering Saturday afternoon in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matches.
The Raiders won the match between the women's teams by a 10-0 score, and then backed that up with a 6-1 victory in the men's match.
MSOE scored four goals in the first 18:09 in the first match of the day, and the Muskie women (2-15-1 overall, 0-9 NACC) were unable to recover. The Raiders (9-7-1 overall, 5-4 NACC) also added four goals in the first 8:08 of the second half.
Jessica Carter (
Jr.-Schaumburg, Ill.) and
Ali Thompson (
Sr.-Plymouth, Wis.) combined to make 11 saves for Lakeland.
Krystina Cook (
Sr.-Des Plaines, Ill.) and
Becca Giessen (
Fr.-West Bend, Wis.) generated the team's lone shot attempts.
Kline scored his second goal of the season at 35:33 of the match, punching in the rebound off his own shot to get the Lakeland men within a goal of MSOE at 2-1. The Raiders countered with two goals just 1:23 apart late in the first half, though, and the Muskies never got closer.
Kline and
Gustavo Flores Pous (
So.-Xochitepec, Mexico) combined for four of Lakeland's six shot attempts. MSOE improved to 15-3 overall and at 9-0 in the NACC has clinched at least a share of the conference regular season championship.
Both Muskie teams are back in action again on Sunday when they travel to face Finlandia (Mich.) University. The women's match will begin at 10 a.m. with the men's match to follow at noon.
