Mitchell Fucile (
So.-Chilton, Wis.) and
Eddie Terres (
Jr.-Escanaba, Mich.) won both of their individual matches to lead the Lakeland College wrestling team at its own Muskie Duals Saturday at the Woltzen Gymnasium.
Fucile was 2-0 at 165 lbs. while Terres won both of his matches at 184 lbs. The duo combined for all four Lakeland wins on the day, as the shorthanded Muskies were defeated by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 27-7 and by the University of Chicago 43-6.
Fucile defeated Brandon Stradel of UW-Eau Claire in a 16-6 major decision in his opener. He followed that with an 8-3 decision of Paul Papoutsis of Chicago.
Terres handled Mathew Laugen of Eau Claire for a 6-0 decision. He also defeated Ryan Walsh of Chicago by an identical 6-0 score.
Due to multiple injuries, the Muskies were down to just five wrestlers. Also competing for Lakeland were
Mat Gonzalez (
Jr.-Manistique, Mich.) at 157 lbs.,
Mason Lind (
Fr.-Brandon, Wis.) at 174 lbs. and
Andrew Wagner (
Sr.-West Bend, Wis.) at 285 lbs. All three finished 0-2 on the day, with Gonzalez posting the nearest miss of the day of the three with a 4-3 loss to Sam Koenig of Chicago.
Chicago finished a perfect 3-0 on the day, also defeating Milwaukee School of Engineering 31-12 and UW-Eau Claire 41-6. MSOE also added a 27-19 win over Eau Claire to finish 1-1 on the day.
Lakeland is home again on Wednesday when it hosts MSOE in a Northern Wrestling Association conference match at 7 p.m. at the Woltzen Gymnasium.
