Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. - The Lakeland College softball team had its best day of the young season, sweeping a pair of games at the PFX Spring Games on the second day of the team's spring break trip.

The Muskies defeated the United States Coast Guard Academy 7-2 and then blanked the University of Northwestern (Minn.) 11-0 in five innings. Lakeland improved to 3-1 on spring break and is now 4-4 overall this season.

Savannah Stenlund (Fr.-Rapid River, Mich.) earned the win against the Coast Guard, scattering 10 hits in seven innings and striking out four while and limiting the Bears to two runs. The Muskie offense also provided plenty of support, delivering a big third inning.

Sami Jo Williams (So.-Sussex, Wis.) reached on a lead-off walk, Rosa Gonzalez (Fr.-Elwood, Ill.) hit an RBI single, Mikayla Hilton (So.-Port Washington, Wis.) added a single and Jessica Beaudry (Fr.-Gladstone, Mich.) bounced into a fielder's choice. The biggest damage came from freshman Angela Tribuzio (Huntley, Ill.) hitting a three-run double, and it didn't end there as Stenlund helped the cause with an RBI single and Bella Wilkinson (Fr.-Evergreen Park, Ill.) added a double.

Elizabeth Zimmerman (Sr.-Shawano, Wis.) was credited with the win in the second game, tossing a five-inning complete game shutout while scattering eight hits with five strikeouts

The big inning for the Muskies came in the first inning as the Muskies rallied for 10 runs on the strength of five hits and four walks. Williams reached with one out on a hit by pitch, Gonzalez slammed an RBI double to the wall, Beaudry drove in two with a deep double and Wilkinson followed with an RBI single. Lakeland then broke the inning wide open when Williams hit a grand slam in her second at bat of the inning.

Lakeland is in action with two more games on Wednesday. The Muskies will take on Cornell (Iowa) College at 9 a.m. Central time and then will face the Westfield State (Mass.) University Owls at 11 a.m.
