The Lakeland University women's volleyball team looks to carry late-season momentum into the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament when it travels to face Dominican University in a quarterfinal match Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Igini Sports Forum in River Forest, Ill.
The fifth-seeded Muskies enter on a season-long six-match winning streak and aim to avenge a loss to the fourth-seeded Stars 3 1/2 weeks earlier. Lakeland finished 7-4 in the NACC, one win behind Dominican in the regular season. The winner moves to a semifinal match against top-seeded Concordia Wisconsin on Thursday in Mequon.

Lakeland (15-17 overall)Â closed the regular season defeating St. Norbert and Lawrence in non-conference matches Saturday afternoon in Appleton. Brittini Scoles had 10 kills and Emilie Schartner added seven kills in 10 swings plus five blocks in the first match. Shelby Welsh also totaled nine kills in each match and Allison Errthum piled up 50 digs on the day.
Dominican (16-12 overall) lost its final two regular season matches with a pair of non-conference losses on Saturday, falling to strong Greenville (Ill.) and Carthage teams in three sets each in Lisle, Ill., at the Benedictine Eagle Invitational. Kendyl Todd finished with 18 kills over the two matches, Anastasia Labadessa totaled 37 assists and Megan Parker added 17 digs. Dominican saw its season-best five-match winning streak snapped.
The Muskies' last win over Dominican came a year ago in River Forest, a dramatic five-set victory that snapped a six-match losing streak to the Stars. The teams have met one other time in the NACC Tournament, that being in a fantastic 2009 championship match when Lakeland fought back from hard-fought losses in the first two sets to win 25-27, 24-26, 25-19, 25-14, 15-10 to earn its most recent NCAA Division III Tournament appearance.
