Lakeland/Illinois Tech Match Notes   PDF

The Lakeland University women's volleyball team will look to keep up the momentum from a big weekend when it hosts Illinois Institute of Technology Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.

The Muskies (10-8 overall, 4-1 NACC) will also welcome back one of their own as Mark Johnston leads the Scarlet Hawks (4-12 overall, 1-3 NACC). Johnston is a Lakeland alum who played for the Muskies men's volleyball club team from 2002-05 and was a member of the 2003 team that lost in the NIRSA national championship match.

Lakeland is coming off a four-set win over Aurora on Saturday that snapped the Spartans' 17-match conference regular season winning streak. Shannon Bishop finished with 14 kills and five block assists, Abby Baumgartner added nine kills plus a team-high 25 digs, and Neenah Primas tacked on 30 assists plus 18 digs.
Illinois Tech played a pair of matches on Saturday, falling to Edgewood in three sets in a NACC match and then dropping a four-set non-conference match against Maranatha Baptist. Karen Marrufo-Zubaran led Tech with 13 kills in the first match against Edgewood, while Natalie Freund totaled 12 kills and Sara Hassell added 10 in the second match against Maranatha.
