Five members of the 2018-19 Lakeland University men's basketball team were recently named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court recognizing men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics.
Receiving the award were senior members of the team
Garrett Duffin (
Princeton, Ill.) and
Pat McDonald (
Port Washington, Wis.) and juniors
Isaac Anderson (
Linden, Wis.),
Shakur Jinad (
Chicago, Ill.) and
Sam Kaminski (
Sheboygan, Wis.).
Criteria for student-athletes to be eligible for the honor include: being a junior or senior academically and a varsity player; a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2018-19 academic year; students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution, and that they be a member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with an NABC member coach.
The NABC is the national coaching association for university and college men's basketball coaches, with more than 5,000 members. All members of the NABC are expected to uphold the core values of being a Guardian of the Game by bringing attention to the positive aspects of the sport of basketball and the role coaches play in the academic and athletic lives of today's student-athletes
