Lakeland finally back home, hosts Alverno in NACC loop play

The Lakeland University women's volleyball team will play at home for just the second time this season when it hosts Alverno College Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.

The Muskies (6-8 overall) also will play for just the second time on the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference loop, coming in with a 0-1 record in the NACC after a loss to Concordia Wisconsin last week. Alverno (1-12 overall) also is 0-1 in conference after losing to Edgewood College last week.
 
Lakeland comes in after finishing 1-1 at the Holiday Inn Express Classic hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University this past weekend. The Muskies swept Luther (Iowa) in their first match 25-18, 25-18, 25-12 before losing to Earlham (Ind.) in five sets despite Shannon Bishop (Sr.-River Grove, Ill.) setting a career high with 21 kills and Allison Byrne (Sr.-Luxemburg, Wis.) also adding a career-best 29 digs.

Alverno competed at the Central/Grinnell Invitational in Iowa this past weekend, finishing with a 0-4 mark over two days. Freshman Kierra Sherlock led Alverno with 24 kills over four matches, Alex McMath finished with 47 assists and Morgan Lemner paced the team with 29 digs.
