The Lakeland University women's volleyball team is home for the first time this season and will face a challenge right off the bat as it hosts the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
The first of eight home dates for the Muskies is against a UWSP team that is just outside the AVCA/NCAA Division III Coaches Top 25 Poll after the first weekend of competition. The Pointers won two of their first three matches this past weekend, including a three-set sweep of nationally ranked Chicago on the road Friday.
The Muskies enter with a 2-2 record after splitting four matches at the UW-Whitewater Volleyball Invitational this past weekend. Lakeland defeated Carleton (Minn.) and MSOE while falling to UW-Whitewater and UW-Stout, including a three-set loss to the nationally ranked host Warhawks.
Shannon Bishop (
Sr.-River Grove, Ill.) was named to the all-tournament team, while seniors
Natalie Bova (
Chicago, Ill.) and
Erin Iwanski (
St. Francis, Wis.) and sophomore
Sydney Pingitore (
Kenosha, Wis.) were among those posting career highs over the weekend, including Pingitore piling up 21 digs against Carleton.
