Series history: 37th meeting, Lakeland leads 24-12
The series between Lakeland and Rockford dates back to 1961. The two schools have split their last six contests, as well as their two Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference games last season. The home team won in each game as the Regents won 99-79 in Rockford on Jan. 3, 2019, while the Muskies avenged that loss with a close 73-70 win at Woltzen Gymnasium on Feb. 14. Even with the Regents' recent success, Lakeland has won 12 of the last 16 in the series and won the first meeting ever 64-41 on Dec. 6, 1961.

Lakeland last time out: Defeated by MSOE 95-70 Saturday
The Muskies saw their five-game winning streak end in their new year debut, falling at Milwaukee School of Engineering. Lakeland played for the first time in 15 days and had a tough time throughout, leading only briefly at 2-0. The Raiders finished with a huge 62-20 advantage in points in the paint as well as a decisive 50-28 advantage in rebounding. MSOE also shot 52.7% for the game (39 of 74) and led by as many as 39 in the second half. Freshman Tylan Huff provided a spark off the bench in the second half for the Muskies and scored a season-high 14 points, hitting three three-pointers and four of eight shots overall.

Rockford last time out: Defeated Concordia Chicago 82-80 Saturday
The Regents claimed their fourth conference win of the season in a thrilling two-point victory Saturday afternoon. Both teams got off to a hot start, combining to knock down 15 three-pointers and 97 points in the first half. The shooting cooled off in the second half, especially for Concordia who made just two of their 17 shots from beyond the arc. After trailing 53-44 at halftime, Rockford slowly came back to tie the game at 71 with six minutes to play. After trading baskets, the Regents sank three of four free throws in the last 36 seconds to complete the comeback. Ashton Singleton scored 18 of his 21 points in the second half to lead the Regents on offense, and Jamar Rivera recorded a double-double with 18 points and a team-leading 12 rebounds.

About the Regents: Rockford enters tonight's contest in the same position as the Muskies: 6-5 overall, 4-2 in conference, and in a tie for third in the NACC with Concordia Wisconsin and a game behind Benedictine and Wisconsin Lutheran. The Regents' early success under first-year coach Jeremy Reigle comes as a bit of a surprise as a preseason poll of conference coaches and sports information directors pegged the Regents for a second-to-last-place finish this season. Last season, Rockford earned the fifth seed in the conference tournament with an 11-9 record before falling to fourth-seeded Illinois Tech in the first round.
