The Lakeland University men's soccer team continues the sprint through its spring season when it hosts Concordia University Wisconsin Sunday afternoon.for another matchup in the highly competitive Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference North Division.

Series history:Â Lakeland and Concordia have been meeting on the soccer field for nearly 40 years, with a series that dates back to 1984. Though complete records aren't available, the Falcons have dominated the series recently and overall. Concordia holds a 26-4-4 series lead since 1991 and is undefeated in the last 18 meetings, with a 14-0-4 mark since the Muskies' last win. Lakeland last defeated Concordia on Oct. 4, 2000, recording a 3-2 win in overtime. The Falcons have won the last six meetings, including a 6-0 victory in Lakeland's season finale of the 2019 season in Mequon. The Muskies last earned a tie against Concordia in 2010, playing to a 2-2 draw that year as all four goals were scored in the first 24 minutes.
Lakeland last time out: Tied Edgewood 2-2 Wednesday
The Muskies fought back from two goals down in the second half for the second straight match, this time coming back to earn a tie with the Eagles.
Kidus Samson scored his first collegiate goal less than six minutes into the second half and
Michecadet Gethand put in a rebound of a Samson shot for his third goal of the season and to tie it with 7:23 left in regulation. Goalkeeper
Carson Galla made nine saves after earlier in the day being named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference North Division Defensive Player of the Week. Lakeland continued its solid play early in the season after defeating MSOE and falling to Wisconsin Lutheran 3-2 last Sunday, nearly coming all the way back after trailing 2-0 at halftime.
Concordia last time out: Lost to MSOE 1-0 in overtime Wednesday
The Falcons played their third straight overtime match to start the season and this time came up short after picking up two wins in overtime. MSOE's Joey Schauer scored the winner 1:16 into extra time for the lone goal of the match. An evenly matched contest saw the Raiders with a slight advantage in play in the first half before CUW outshot MSOE 10-4 in the second half. Gilberto Gomez fininshed with six of Concordia's 17 shot attempts, while goalkeeper Matthew Klug made seven saves. Perennial contenders in the NACC and led by coach John Saleska, who succeeded his father Tom in leading the program, the Falcons' first loss came after wins over Marian (3-2) and Edgewood (2-1) in overtime earlier in the season.
Super frosh: Michecadet Gethand is the first Muskie to score in three straight matches since Charles Apostolik (2015-18) late in the 2016 season. He's also the first for Lakeland to score in three straight games to open a season since 2013 when
Farouk Dadzie (2010-13) performed the trick.
