The Lakeland University men's soccer team has opted out of the remainder of its 2020-21 season due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

The Muskies will not play games scheduled for Marian University on Saturday and against Wisconsin Lutheran College Sunday. Lakeland concludes its season with a 2-3-1 record overall and in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference North Division.

Lakeland Head Men's Soccer Coach Rick Mobley shared the following statement:
""While we are certainly disappointed to not be able to complete our regular season and earn a spot in the post-season, we fully accept the decision of our health professionals. Personally, I am thankful for the opportunity I was able to spend with our student-athletes on and off the soccer field. The past couple of months have provided me with some of the best soccer moments in my life. We had 16 guys literally give everything they had in practice and our six matches. I couldn't have asked anything more from our guys. I am most thankful to Rudy Monarrez, our lone senior, and our captain, Denver Roberts, who will graduate a year early. The development of our program over the past three years is directly related to strong leadership both these young men have provided to our squad."
