Lakeland University freshman
Woodlens Frederic (
Green Bay, Wis.) has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday.
Frederic received NACC weekly honors for the first time in his career after playing a key role in two matches last week. He scored three goals as the Muskies went 1-0-1 for the week to extend their unbeaten streak to seven games.
Frederic scored two goals in Lakeland's 3-3 tie against Illinois Tech on Wednesday, and two huge goals they were. Both came in the match's final 10 minutes, 50 seconds, including the tying goal with just 1:24 left as the Muskies came back from a 3-1 deficit late to earn the tie. Frederic then added another goal on Saturday, scoring the first goal in Lakeland's eventual 3-1 win over Rockford.
Frederic has scored four goals over the Muskies' last four matches, stepping into a prominent role after an injury to fellow forward
Dunia Wangu (
Jr.-Milwaukee, Wis.). Frederic is now up to six goals and two assists for 14 points on the season, and he is tied for second for Lakeland in goals scored and is fourth on the team in points. He also is tied for fifth in the NACC in goals and is tied for sixth in the conference in points.
The Muskies are 11-2-2 overall on the season and at 5-1-2 with 17 points in the NACC are tied for second in the conference standings, one point behind Aurora (6-2) for the league lead. Lakeland also has already established a new school record for wins in a season.
Lakeland faces the team it currently shares second in the NACC with on Wednesday, hosting Milwaukee School of Engineering at 7 p.m. at John Taylor Memorial Field.
