Series history: Lakeland and Wisconsin Lutheran are long-time adversaries with a series going back at least as far as 1980. Records are incomplete, but in known matchups the Muskies hold a 39-19 lead. The Warriors won the two most recent meetings though in the spring, with victories in four sets and three sets in a doubleheader in the NACC's abbreviated spring season. Lakeland had won eight of the previous nine meetings, including most recently a three-set sweep at the Woltzen Gym Oct. 22, 2019.

Lakeland last time out: Lost to UW-Stout 3-2; Defeated Lake Forest 3-0 Saturday
The Muskies picked up their first win of the season on Saturday in their second of two matches at the UW-Oshkosh Polito's Classic, hitting .337 in a 25-20, 25-16, 25-15 sweep of Lake Forest. Lakeland also lost a tough five-set match against UW-Stout, the Blue Devils finishing with a 25-23, 18-25, 25-14, 19-25, 15-6 win. Kelly Swope posted a career-high 14 kills and added 10 digs, nine assists and six blocks against Stout, and for her play Saturday was named to the all-tournament team.

Wisconsin Lutheran last time out: Def. Carroll 3-2; Lost at UW-Oshkosh 3-0 Saturday
The Warriors also posted their first win of the season on Saturday at the Polito's Classic, rallying from a 2-1 deficit to edge Carroll 25-19, 19-25, 19-25, 27-25, 15-12 before falling to host Oshkosh in three sets to close the tourney. Carly Heuer finished with 11 kills against Carroll, Ally Goba piled up 29 digs and Amanda Viel served seven aces as WLC defeated the Pioneers despite hitting just .050 as a team with 47 kills and 38 attack errors. Jenna Charron finished with 11 kills in the second match as Oshkosh prevailed 25-17, 25-20, 25-21.

About the Warriors: Like Lakeland, Wisconsin Lutheran has opened the season with a very difficult non-conference schedule, with its six losses including one to a nationally ranked team, two more to teams receiving votes in the national polls, and three losses total against Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents. The Muskies themselves also have one loss to a ranked team and four losses to WIAC foes.

Wisconsin Lutheran was one of the top teams in the NACC North Division in the spring season, posting a 6-2 division record and a 9-2 mark overall. The Warriors also won the NACC North divisional tournament, sweeping Edgewood after top seed Concordia Wisconsin and No. 3 seed Lakeland both withdrew due to COVID-19 protocols. WLC has posted three straight winning seasons, though, under coach Jenilee Voss, a former Michigan State star in her fifth year at Lutheran.
