Series history: 19th meeting, Lakeland leads 17-1
The series between the Muskies and Cougars began with the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference's first season in 2006. Lakeland has dominated the series since winning that first meeting in five sets Oct. 19, 2006, and has defeated Concordia 11 straight times entering tonight. That includes a 25-22, 25-15, 25-23 win last year at CUC as Susana Stevens hammered home 15 kills. The Muskies also won the last meeting at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium, a 3-0 sweep Oct. 30, 2018. Concordia's lone win in the series came Oct. 8, 2011, a 25-20, 25-20, 25-22 win at home in River Forest.

Lakeland last time out: Defeated Saint Mary's (Minn.) 3-1; Defeated Ripon 3-1 Saturday
The Muskies have been idle since playing and winning twice at the Ripon Red Hawks Invitational nearly a week ago. Lakeland defeated St. Mary's 25-22, 25-22, 24-26, 25-16 and then topped the host school in four sets, 25-15, 20-25, 25-14, 25-14. Kelly Swope finished with 11 kills and 13 digs against St. Mary's and Maeve Sullivan totaled a career-high 27 digs against the Cardinals. Emily Duchow also set a new career high with 44 assists. Katie Metzler then posted 13 kills and a .611 hitting percentage in the win over the Red Hawks as Lakeland hit .250 or better in all three sets it won.

Concordia last time out: Defeated Manchester (Ind.) 3-2; Lost at Rose-Hulman (Ind.) 3-0 Saturday
The Cougars also have had a break of nearly a week since they played in Terre Haute, Ind., at the Rose-Hulman Invitational. Concordia outlasted Manchester 27-25, 25-20, 17-25, 20-25, 15-10 in a five-set marathon before being swept by the host Engineers 25-19, 25-16, 25-12. Katie Stonich led CUC in kills in both matches, including 13 kills against Manchester. Julia Beers also finished with a career-high 32 digs. In all the Cougars finished 1-2 at the tourney, also falling to Hanover (Ind.) in three sets Friday.

Concordia enters with a 6-7 record and is 1-1 in the NACC. The Cougars lost a tough five-set match to Illinois Tech in their conference opener before defeating down-the-street rival Dominican in three sets Sept. 20, for their first win over the Stars since 2008. CUC finished 12-16 a year ago and posted a 3-10 record in conference, but this year the Cougars have won at least a set in four of their seven losses, including two five-set losses.

Player of the Week X 2: Maeve Sullivan received the NACC's Defensive Player of the Week honor earlier this week, taking the honor for the second time this season and second time in three weeks. She is just the second Lakeland women's volleyball player to receive multiple weekly honors in a season in the Muskies' 16 years in the NACC. Brittanie Paulus was twice named conference player of the week in the 2008 season, when the NACC awarded just a single award and before it split into two awards in 2020-21, first for divisional play that season and then recognizing offensive and defensive top players every week in 2021.
