BELOIT, Wis. –
Emma Ziepke (
Fr.-Manawa, Wis.) blew away her personal best time by more than 1 1/2 minutes, leading the Lakeland University cross country teams at the Wisconsin Private College Championships at Leeson Park.
Ziepke finished the women's six-kilometer race in 26 minutes, 25.6 seconds to place 34th of 98 finishers at the annual event this year hosted by Beloit College. Her previous best time came earlier this season at the UW-Whitewater Tom Hoffman Invitational, where she finished the course in 28:03.6.
Travis Eitel (
Jr.-Pine Island, Minn.) was Lakeland's lead finisher in the men's 8K race, finishing in 31:08.3 to place 35th. Eitel posted a season-best time, more than five seconds off his previous best set at the Wisconsin Lutheran Warrior Invitational.
Owen Luedtke (
Jr.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) also ran in the men's race and notched a personal best, crossing the line in 34:32.3. Luedtke broke the 35-minute barrier for the first time in two years and finished more than a minute better than his previous low time this season.
Lakeland next will compete in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships, to be held Oct. 28 at Greenfield Park in West Allis.
