WHITEWATER, Wis. –
Emma Ziepke (
Fr.-Manawa, Wis.) finished in the top half of a field of nearly 70 runners in the women's race to lead the Lakeland University cross country teams at the Tom Hoffman Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Saturday.
Ziepke competed as the lone Muskie in the women's six-kilometer race and came in 29th in a field of 69 competitors. She finished in 28 minutes, 3.6 seconds, improving seven seconds on her time in Lakeland's first meet this season two weeks early at the Concordia Wisconsin Ken Weidt Classic.
Ziepke was one of three Muskie harriers to compete in the two races. Two competed for Lakeland in the men's 8K race, with
Travis Eitel (
Jr.-Pine Island, Minn.) posting the best finish coming in 85th with a time of 32:09.6.
Owen Luedtke (
Jr.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) also competed and finished in 36:55.0.
The Muskies' next event is the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warrior Invitational, to be held Sept. 30 at Greenfield Park in West Allis. The men's race begins at 11 a.m. with the women's race to follow at noon.
