The Lakeland University women's volleyball team plays host for an important Halloween showdown when it hosts St. Norbert College Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.

Series history:Â The Muskies and Green Knights share a long history dating all the way back to both programs' first years of competition in 1974. All-time records are incomplete, but St. Norbert has held the upper hand in the series through much of its known history, including a 23-9 lead in matches played since 1990. The Green Knights have won the last four meetings, including a four-set win at home late last season by the score of 25-20, 17-25, 25-21, 25-23. The last three meetings have been in De Pere, including a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament quarterfinal match won by SNC in three sets in 2022. St. Norbert also won the last matchup at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium, rallying from two sets down for a five-set win Oct. 15, 2021 in the teams' first meeting as NACC conference mates. Lakeland's last win in the series came Nov. 2, 2019, a four-set victory on the road in De Pere on Nov. 2, 2019.
Lakeland last time out: Defeated Rockford 3-0 Saturday
The Muskies breezed past the Regents in their last match Saturday, posting a 25-19, 25-16, 25-14 win in just over an hour. It was a happy Senior Day as Lakeland hit .309 as a team and only allowed Rockford to score as many as three consecutive points on two occasions.
Susana Stevens hammered home another 16 kills, and with 1,116 career kills moved into sixth on the Muskies' all-time list for career kills. Fellow seniors
Isabella Westerholm and
Briuna Harper contributed 10 and nine kills, respectively, and
Caitlyn Pernsteiner finished with three service aces. The win combined with other conference results allowed Lakeland to clinch its spot in the NACC Tournament, the sixth team to do so for the eight-team tourney.
St. Norbert last time out: Defeated Aurora 3-1 Thursday
The Green Knights picked up a key conference win at home, coming back to win the final three sets for a 24-26, 25-22, 25-22, 25-20 win. Both teams struggled on the attack with SNC hitting .122 and Aurora just .096, but Alyssa Mills totaled 19 kills to lead the hosts. Kara Sowinski added 24 digs and Andrianna Volz finished with 21 digs. The win allowed St. Norbert to remain in a three-way tie for first in the NACC with Edgewood and Concordia Wisconsin at 9-1, while Aurora dropped one match behind those three in the standings. The Green Knights have won three straight coming in, and their lone league loss was to Edgewood in five sets back in September.
Boo! The Muskies are playing on Halloween for the first time since 2015, when they hosted Lawrence at night and came away with a five-set victory in a non-conference match. Lakeland has played on Oct. 31 ten times in program history and holds a 4-6 record in those matches, including a three-set loss to St. Norbert in one of the teams' earliest meetings Oct. 31, 1977.
