Lauren Greif has been named Lakeland University's interim head softball coach. She joined the Lakeland softball coaching staff in 2023 and recently completed her first year as an assistant coach with the Muskies.
Â
She was part of a record-setting season as the 2024 softball team set a school record for wins in a season with a thrilling 35-10 finish that included second place in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference and falling just short in the NACC Tournament.
Â
Greif came to Lakeland after spending the previous two years as a graduate assistant coach at Alverno College in Milwaukee. She finished her MBA at Lakeland's Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference rival after playing four seasons for the Inferno from 2018-21.
Greif played a multitude of positions in her tenure on the Alverno softball team, and as a four-year starter she appeared in a total of 111 games, including 49 games as a pitcher. At the plate she finished with 75 career hits, including eight doubles and six home runs, while driving in 37 runs. Greif also threw 116 innings as a pitcher, collecting five wins and throwing six complete games in her 17 career starts.
A four-time NACC Scholar Athlete, Greif received her bachelor's degree from Alverno in business management in May 2021. She is a native of Chicago and a graduate of Lane Tech College Prep High School, where she was a team captain and member of an Illinois state regional championship team as a senior.
