The Lakeland University women's soccer team is home for the second straight night when it welcomes Grace Christian University for a non-conference match Thursday night at 7 p.m. at John Taylor Memorial Field.

Lakeland and Grace Christian are meeting for the second time and the first time in 12 years. The teams played to a scoreless tie in two overtimes back on Oct. 4, 2013, back when Grace Christian was known as Grace Bible College. Jessica Carter made 12 saves for the Muskies and Lindsey Anible stopped 10 shots for the Tigers in the non-conference matchup, which was played on the soccer field on the south side of Lakeland's campus that was the home of the Muskies soccer teams until both moved into playing at Taylor Field in 2017.
Lakeland last time out: Lost to MSOE 7-0 last night
The Muskies were defeated by one of the top teams in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference last night at Taylor Field, as MSOE rode a big first half to victory. The Raiders scored twice in the game's first 10 minutes and then added four more goals late in the first half to take a 6-0 halftime lead. Lakeland held MSOE scoreless in the second half save for an own goal after a failed header attempt went backwards and into the Muskies' net. Lakeland finished without a shot attempt, getting its best chances with a corner kick in the first half and a free kick by
Mikayla Belasco in the second half.
Ingrid Steinbock made six saves in the first half and
Addi Reimer made four saves in the second half in goal.
Grace Christian last time out: Tied Great Lakes Christian (Mich.) 1-1 Tuesday
The Tigers snuck out a tie just in the nick of time against their rivals, with Kendall Johnson scoring the tying goal with 24 seconds left in the contest after a corner kick by Natalie Huerta. Grace Christian played from behind for the vast majority of the match, with Great Lakes scoring its goal just 10:18 into the match and also outshooting GCU 20-6. Tigers goalkeeper Kenna Hill made 14 saves.
About the Tigers: Grace Christian is a member of the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) and enters with a 3-6-2 record against a schedule that has included opponents from NCAA Division III, the NAIA, NCCAA and USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association). The Tigers are 2-2 against Division III schools this year, having defeated Maranatha Baptist (11-0, in a game where Kendall Johnson scored seven goals) and North Central (Minn.) while falling to Alma (Mich.) and Manchester (Ind.). GCU is opening a two-game Wisconsin swing, as it will take on Maranatha Baptist in Watertown tomorrow afternoon.
Grace Christian is located in Wyoming, Mich., just outside of Grand Rapids, and once was known as Milwaukee Bible Institute. The school was established in 1939 in Milwaukee, Wis., before moving its campus to Michigan in 1961.
Active scoring leaders: Mikayla Belasco's goal against Rockford this past Saturday was her first of the season, and also marked her third straight season scoring at least one goal. Belasco (six career goals) shares the honor of longest current streak of seasons with a goal with
Janae Kilsdonk, who has scored one goal in each of the last three seasons but is still looking for her first goal this season.
Malaya Sperber is the Muskies' active leader in career goals among current Lakeland players with nine, while Belasco is the active leader in assists with four, just ahead of
Lia Armstrong (three).
