Five members of the Lakeland University softball team were named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) NCAA Division III Academic All-District Team when the organization announced its season awards Tuesday.
Seniors
Jordan August (
Schererville, Ind.) and
Melanie Watters (
Sturgeon Bay, Wis.), junior
Sydney Meyer (
Crown Point, Ind.) and sophomores
Maddie Raske (
Tinley Park, Ill.) and
Reyna Rupnow (
Ixonia, Wis.) all received all-district academic honors. The awards are based on combined performances in the classroom and on the field. To be eligible, the nominee must be a starter or regular reserve on their team, have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50.
August is majoring in elementary and middle school education and adds to her postseason honors that also included last week being named first team all-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference as a catcher. She also received Academic All-District honors for the second time in her career, having also received the award in 2023.
Raske is majoring in criminal justice and was a second team all-NACC selection. Meyer is a three-year starter also majoring in elementary and middle school education, Watters was the team's top relief pitcher as a senior and graduated in May with her degree in biology, and Rupnow stepped into the lineup as the team's starting right fielder this year and is majoring in economics.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
