Keegan, Gegenfurtner both tabbed for NACC baseball postseason recognition

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Lakeland University's Zak Keegan (Sr.-Frankfort, Ill.) and Tucker Gegenfurtner (So.-Onalaska, Wis.) both were recognized when the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference released its postseason awards Thursday afternoon.

Keegan and Gegenfurtner both were named honorable mention all-conference selections, Keegan as a third baseman and Gegenfurtner as a first baseman. The pair of corner infielders give the first Muskies two on the baseball all-conference team honorable mention or higher for the first time in 17 years, since Mitch Heinemeyer, Tyler Schmitt and Zach Schmitz all were named honorable mention picks in 2008. Lakeland also put one player on the all-conference team and one on the all-freshman team on four occasions between 2009-16, most recently when Jared Rear was named second team and Connor Hilburn to the all-freshman team in 2016, before the NACC discontinued an all-freshman team after 2017.

Keegan finished an excellent four-year career with another strong season and received all-NACC honors for the first time. He batted .372 with 58 hits, 10 doubles, two triples, two home runs, 29 runs batted in and 25 runs scored, leading the Muskies in triples and finishing second in batting average, hits and RBIs.

Keegan also is ninth in the NACC in batting average and 10th in hits, and he concludes his time as a Muskie among the program's all-time leaders in a number of categories. He is tied for second in career triples (10), third in hits (172), seventh in RBIs (90) and ninth in batting average (.325).

Gegenfurtner emerged as one of the conference's top hitters as a sophomore and also was named to the all-NACC team for the first time. He hit .387 for the season with 60 hits, 14 doubles, three home runs, 36 RBIs and 19 runs scored, leading Lakeland in average, hits, doubles, homers and RBIs as well as slugging percentage (.548) and on-base percentage (.437).

Gegenfurtner also is fifth in the NACC in batting average and also ranks tied for seventh in the conference in hits and tied for eighth in doubles. His 60 hits also are the fourth-most in a season in school history, his .387 average seventh-best, his 36 RBIs tied for eighth-most and his 14 doubles tied for ninth-most in a season by a Muskie.
