Fulton Stroud (
Iron Mountain, Mich.) both have received the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) NCAA Division III Scholar All-American award, as announced by the NWCA.
Burg and Stroud both received the award for the first time in their careers, and are the first Muskies to receive the honor since Garret Hunt in 2021. The duo also are the eighth and ninth Lakeland wrestlers to receive the award all-time.
To be eligible for the NWCA Scholar All-American award, student-athletes must meet athletic and academic criteria. Wrestlers much place in the top 8 in an NCAA regional tournament or wrestle at least 15 matches and have a win percentage greater than 66%. Academically, student-athletes must have an average GPA of 3.2 over the last two semesters or a cumulative GPA of 3.2.
Burg finished with an 23-11 record this year and finished sixth at 149 pounds in the NCAA Division III Region VII Regional, while Stroud posted a 21-10 record in his freshman season and finished fifth at regionals at 174 lbs. Both are majoring in accounting at Lakeland.
A total of 471 individuals representing 103 institutions in NCAA Division III received the Scholar All-American award.
