PLYMOUTH, Wis. –
Dillon Raab (
Jr.-Spalding, Mich.) recorded two lightning-quick pins,
Evan Haferkorn (
Jr.-Norway, Mich.) also added two pins and the Lakeland University men's wrestling team won a pair of duals Friday in its home triangular at the Wehr Center Fieldhouse.
The Muskies defeated Saint John's (Minn.) University 35-23 and wrapped up with a 28-21 win over the University of Wisconsin-Platteville (1-6 overall). The Muskies won their first duals of the new year and improved to 6-2 in duals on the season.
Raab stepped in at 165 pounds and won his first match against Laiken Copeman of Saint John's with a pin in just 12 seconds. He then racked up the pivotal pin in the second match against UW-Platteville, taking down Dawson Klefstad in 26 seconds to give the Muskies a 16-12 lead and a lead they would not relinquish again in the dual.
Haferkorn followed Raab in both matches at 174 lbs. and also added pins in both. He defeated Isaac Hunter of Saint John's in 2:32 and then pinned UW-Platteville's Ian Kartman in 2:59 just before the first period ran out.
Rigoberto Tellez (
Fr.-Oostburg, Wis.) also won twice, including a forfeit win in the first dual but also an 8-0 major decision over Aaron Meenan of UW-Platteville at 133 lbs.
Jacob Hillshafer (
Fr.-West Bend, Wis.) and
Jesse Burg (
Jr.-Cedar Grove, Wis.) also added wins against Saint John's, including Hillshafer at 141 lbs. with a pin and Burg at 157 lbs. by technical fall.
Diego Morales (
Jr.-Cedar Grove, Wis.) also came up with a big victory to close out the match against the Johnnies, reversing momentum in the second period and pinning Ezekiel Conner in 4:19.
Saint John's (2-5 overall) defeated UW-Platteville 30-21 in the first dual of the day, winning six of 10 matches including late pins by Carson Gellerman at 184 lbs. and Aidan Wayne at 197 lbs.
Lakeland is in action again Tuesday when it travels to face Aurora University for a dual at 7 p.m.
