Series history: First meeting
Lakeland and Wisconsin are meeting for the first time, and the match also marks the first time the Muskies have faced an NCAA Division I opponent in men's soccer. It is also the first time Wisconsin has played a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference program since the league's first year in 2006, though the Badgers have faced a pair of current NACC members. Wisconsin played Aurora twice in the early years of its program, splitting matches with the Spartans in 1979 and 1980, and also holds a 5-1 record against Rockford in matches played from 1977-83. The Badgers have faced small college opponents from the state in recent years, taking on NCAA Division III Carroll University last year and NAIA member Viterbo University two years ago.

Lakeland last time out: Defeated Aurora 2-1 Saturday
The Muskies continued a banner season with their biggest win in years, toppling one of the best teams in the NACC to move into first place in the conference. The Spartans scored just over six minutes into the match but Lakeland got the better of play the rest of the way and scored twice in the first half. Aaron Cortez and Colin Davis both scored goals, the latter just before halftime to give the Muskies a lead they would not relinquish.

About the Muskies: Lakeland set a new school record for wins in a season against Aurora with its 10th win. Austin Eigenberger-Vahsholtz added another assist, his sixth of the season, and he now is tied for second in the NACC in assists behind only teammate Isai Gil (seven). Dunia Wangu missed the match with Aurora with a knee injury but still leads the conference in goals (10) and is still tied for sixth nationally in goals, but with the goals by Cortez and Smith on Saturday Lakeland now has 10 different players who have scored at least two goals this season.

Wisconsin last time out: Tied #15 Washington 0-0 Saturday
The Badgers and Huskies played to a scoreless tie in Seattle in Big Ten play and a matchup of nationally ranked teams. Washington played a man down for nearly 60 minutes of the match after a red card in the 31st minute, but Wisconsin still had to hold on for the tie after the Huskies outshot the Badgers 10-3 in the second half. Judewellin Michel made five saves in goal for Wisconsin.

About the Badgers: Wisconsin is now 0-2-3 in the Big Ten after its third tie in five matches but as of Tuesday is still ranked No. 20 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I top 25 poll. The Badgers earned 1-1 ties against No. 3 Ohio State on Sept. 11 and No. 2 Indiana on Sept. 22, and all five of their conference matches have been against teams ranked in the top 15 nationally. Wisconsin is led by fifth-year coach Neil Jones and is seeking its first NCAA Tournament berth since 2013.
