The series between Lakeland and Aurora dates back to 2002 and has been largely dominated by the Spartans since a 3-2 double-overtime win in that first meeting Sept. 15, 2002. Aurora has won 11 straight in the series, including a 7-0 win last year at home. The Spartans also won 5-1 in the last meeting at Taylor Field Oct. 4, 2024. The Muskies' last win in the series came on Sept. 29, 2013 when Farouk Dadzie scored the golden goal in overtime to give Lakeland a 2-1 win in Aurora, its first win over the Spartans since a 3-0 win back on Sept. 7, 2003, in the teams' second meeting ever.

The Muskies weathered a slow start to come on in the second half and defeat the Warriors for their third straight win.
Woodlens Frederic scored the match's lone goal just out of halftime off a corner kick by
Austin Eigenberger-Vahsholtz. Lakeland outshot WLC 9-2 in the second half and with its ninth win tied the program record for wins in a season.
