Lakeland-Illinois Tech men’s volleyball match suspended

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The Lakeland University men's volleyball team's match against Illinois Tech on Tuesday was suspended in the second set after an injury in the match and will be completed at a later date.

The match was stopped in the second set after a serious leg injury sustained by an Illinois Tech player. The player was conscious and alert, and he was taken by paramedics to the hospital, with the mutual decision made by the teams after to suspend the match and complete it at a later date.

Illinois Tech held a 1-0 lead in the match after taking the first set 25-19, and the teams were tied 18-18 in the second set after Lakeland had just tied the score after trailing for much of the set.

No reschedule date for the resumption of the match has been set at this time.

Lakeland returns to play Saturday when it faces Cal Lutheran University in a neutral court match hosted by Carthage College in Kenosha at 5 p.m. Cal Lutheran will be the third top-10 team played this season for the Muskies, with the Kingsmen entering the match ranked No. 4 in the latest AVCA/NCAA Division III Top 20 Coaches Poll.
