Lakeland Women’s Soccer Drops Heartbreaker 1-0

The Lakeland women's soccer team lost a hard fought game with the Falcons of Concordia University 1-0 today.

Both teams battled throughout the first half and managed to come into halftime scoreless with scoring opportunities minimal for each side.

Concordia got the game winner in the 64th minute on a lofted set piece that landed in the Muskies box and was not cleared. Falcon's midfielder Rachel Borland slotted home the free ball to make it 1-0.

Concordia held a slight edge in shots with a 7-6 mark and had 7 corners to just 2 for the Muskies. Goalkeeper Alli Weiss (New Berlin) went the distance and had 2 saves.

With the loss, Lakeland drops to 8-7 overall and 3-1 in the Lake Michigan Conference. The Muskies still have three important games remaining in the LMC.

The Lakeland women return to action on Wednesday, October 20th when they host conference opponent Marian College at 3 pm.
