Muskie Women Open LMC Play with 2-1 Victory

The Lakeland College Women's Soccer team opened up Lake Michigan Conference play with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran. Senior forward Amanda Smith (Neenah) tallied both goals for the Muskies.

Smith scored the game's first goal in the 13th minute on an assist from junior back Briana Plautz (Green Bay). Wisconsin Lutheran answered back with a goal by Rachel Himm in the 18th minute to knot the score at 1-1 going into halftime.

Smith would seal the game with her second goal in the 68th minute. Smith pounced on the rebound from her own shot and knocked it home for a 2-1 win.

The Muskies took 17 shots for the game with 8 on goal compared to just 5 shots and 1 on goal for the home standing Warriors.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alli Weiss (New Berlin, WI) played 90 minutes between the pipes and wasn't forced to record a single save on the day. With the win the Muskies are 1-0 in Lake Michigan Conference play and 4-6 overall. 

The Muskies are in action tomorrow afternoon as they travel to play UW Platteville at .
