Lakeland Defeats Maranatha in First Round of LMC Tournament

The Lakeland College Women's soccer team defeated the Crusaders of Maranatha Baptist 3-1 on a muggy day in Sheboygan. The Muskies jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead and held on to advance to the LMC semi-finals. Lakeland will now host the winner of the #3 Edgewood vs. #6 Wisconsin Lutheran game on Tuesday, November 2nd at 2 pm. 

Senior forward Amanda Smith (Neenah) tallied all 3 goals for the Muskies and now has 32 goals on the season. Smith scored on an assist from freshman midfielder Laura Engel in the 10th minute to put Lakeland up 1-0. Smith would tally again in the 33rd minute off an assist from junior midfielder Susan Webb (Mosinee). Smith added her third goal in the 35th minute to take the score to 3-0 in favor of the Muskies heading into intermission.

Sophomore goalie Alli Weiss (New Berlin) collected 3 saves on the day to preserve the win.

The win puts the Muskies at 12-7 overall and 6-1 in Lake Michigan Conference.
