The Lakeland College women's soccer team won their second consecutive Lake Michigan Conference game with a steady 4-1 win over the Raiders of MSOE. With the win, the Muskies improved to 6-6 overall and now sit alone at the top of the LMC conference with a 2-0 record.
Freshman midfielder
Marie Reynolds (Fond du Lac) got the Muskies on the board in the 10th minute when she finished her 5th goal of the season off an assist from fellow freshman
Laura Engel (Appleton).
Senior forward
Amanda Smith (Neenah) tallied two goals in succession in the 15th and 17th minutes off assists from
Tracy Bins (Green Bay) and Engel respectively. Smith now has 18 goals on the season.
MSOE would tally a goal in the 38th minute to take the score to 3-1 heading into halftime.
The Muskies would finalize the scoring at 4-1 in the 80th minute when junior forward
Ann Lehecka (McHenry, IL) flicked in a corner from
Briana Plautz (Green Bay). Lehecka is second on the team in points with 6 goals and 4 assists.
The Lakeland women played solid team defense holding MSOE to two shots on the night. Sophomore goalkeeper
Alli Weiss (New Berlin) went the distance and picked up the win in goal. The Muskie attack held a significant statistical advantage as they took 29 shots and had 9 corners for the game.
The Muskies return to action at home this Saturday, October 9th at 11:30 am when they host non-conference opponent Finlandia University.
