The Lakeland women's soccer team tied 2-2 in double overtime at Concordia on Saturday, Oct. 1. The women started out strong scoring two goals in the first half, before giving up two goals in the second. Neither team was able to score in the golden goal extra periods.
Just 20 minutes into the match senior Briana Plautz took a direct kick and put it into the back of the net to give the Muskies a 1-0 lead. Just over ten minutes later on another direct kick Plautz sent the ball towards the goal and senior Susan Webb finished the play for the Muskies.
Just over a minute later Nicole Sabel drew Concordia within one on a deflection off the post.
With just forty seconds left in the game and the Muskies clinging to a 2-1 lead Jozi Ozurumba was able to tie the game up and send the match to overtime.
Concordia served up 18 shots in the game, while the Muskies were able grab seven. Alli Weiss, made seven saves on the evening for Lakeland. No team was able to get off a shot in either of the overtime periods.
The Muskies return home on Wednesday, Oct 5 to play Wisconsin Lutheran in another LMC matchup.
