The Lakeland Muskies came out firing as they defeated the Dominican Stars 5-0 on a windy afternoon in Sheboygan on October 15. Just four minutes into the contest sophomore Amy Christenson netted her first of three assists on the day when she located the head of senior Ann Lehecka, who headed it into the back of the net.
In the 39th minute Christenson found senior Nicki Willes to make the score 2-0. Willes collected the pass from Christenson, turned and shot the ball. It appeared that freshman keeper Gwen Geever had made the save on the ground, however, the ball somehow got through the keeper and slowly rolled into the net.
The Muskies would tack on three more goals in the second half. In the 52nd minute junior captain, Tracy Bins, located sophomore Laura Engel who was able to score, making the score 3-0.
Just eight minutes later Willes pass the ball down the field to Christenson who dribbled a few steps toward the goal. The keeper started to come out and Christenson hit freshman Megan Stock who was running down the right side of the field. Stock collected the pass and kicked it into the open net before the keeper could recover.
The final goal on the day for the Muskies would come when sophomore Marie Reynolds dribbled down the field and took a shot from about nine yards out and placed it perfectly over the keepers' outstretched hands into the upper 90 on the right side.
The Muskies will travel to Alverno on Wednesday, Oct. 19 for an LMC match starting at 3 p.m. The Muskies have two LMC games left and if they win both, they will finish no worse than second place in the LMC.
