The Lakeland Muskies traveled to Ripon for their last regular season game of the year and they walked away with a 4-0 victory on Tuesday, Oct. 25. Freshman Amy Christenson lead the Muskies with two goals on the evening. Junior Alli Weiss worked her way into the Muskie record book for the second straight evening. Weiss notched her 11th shutout of the season, the most in Muskie history. The previous record of ten was split between two players in Kristy Rosenthal in 2001 and Lindsay Olm in 2002.
Just two minutes and eight seconds into the match the Muskies took the lead when sophomore Marie Reynolds crossed the ball to Christenson who was able to put it into the back of the net. In the ninth minute Christenson returned the favor when she located Reynolds on a service and Reynolds was able to make it a 2-0 game when she scored from six yards out. Senior Briana Plautz was able to find Ann Lehecka, who was standing right in front of the goal, for the third goal of the game in the 23rd minute. The Muskies would grab one more goal before then end of the first half when Plautz took a corner kick and Christenson headed the ball into the net, making the score 4-0.
With the win the Muskies improved their overall record to 11-4-2. After starting the season out slowly, the Muskies have rattled off seven straight victories. Lakeland will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 29 when they host Maranatha Baptist in the first round of the LMC tournament at 2:00 p.m.
