The Lakeland Muskies battled back to win a conference match at Marian on Saturday, October 8, 2-1. Senior Susan Webb was able to knock in the game winner in the 71st minute for the Muskies. Webb collected a pass from sophomore Laura Engel, dribbled to 18-yards out and stuck the ball into the upper 90 just above the outstretched hands of the keeper.
After playing to a scoreless tie in the first half the Muskies allowed Marian to get on the board first, when Bobbi Jo Merten scored in the 54th minute. Lakeland battled back, however, as junior captain Tracy Bins scored to tie up the match, 1-1, just eight minutes later when she got the ball in front of the goal off of a free kick by senior Briana Plautz. Bins took the ball and lifted it up over the keeper and into the back of the net.
Junior goaltender Alli Weiss registered eight saves during the match.
The women take on the Rockford Regents on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 12:30 p.m. on the Lakeland campus.
