The Lakeland Muskies got back on the right track on Thursday, Sept. 15 as they beat St. Norbert College 1-0. After playing to a scoreless tie in the first half freshman Maggie Short served the ball in to sophomore Marie Reynolds who put the ball into the back of the net just 45 seconds into the second half to give the Muskies the win.
"It felt great for the girls to get the win today," said head coach Marc Colwell. "The ladies put the work in and we deserved to get the victory. We created a lot of scoring chances and than we were finally able to put one away. Our defense has been playing great all season and it was nice to see the offense come through tonight. As the game went on you could see the confidence levels of the girls rise."
Junior goalkeeper Alli Weiss recorded her third shutout of the year making three saves on the night. The defense led by senior Briana Plautz did a great job limiting St. Norbert to nine shots on the night. The Muskie offense recorded 15 shots with nine different girls getting in on the action.
The Muskies will be back in action on Sunday against Aurora University at 2p.m. on the Lakeland campus.
